2H Rules and Routines
Changing after school plans: Please remember to send a note with your child or call the office if they will be going home on a different bus, riding home with a friend, or staying after school for a club, etc. This ensures the office that all the children are safe where they are supposed to be. Thank You!
Classroom rules:
1. Be Empathetic - Put yourself in someone else's shoes
2. Follow Directions Quickly
3. Take Turns Talking - Raise your hand to speak
4. Respect our school - and other people's property
5. Make smart choices - to keep your dear teacher happy
Behavior Procedure: At the beginning of each week, each student receives 5 behavior bucks in their pocket. If a student breaks one of the class rules, they will owe me 1 behavior buck. There is a slightly different consequence for each behavior buck lost in the week.
Lose 1 behavior buck = warning
Lose 2 behavior bucks = 5 minutes at recess
Lose 3 behavior bucks = students write a note home to their parents about their behavior during recess
Lose 4 behavior bucks = lose 10 minutes of recess
Lose 5 behavior bucks = lose all of reward recess on Friday (parents will be contacted by Mrs. Hill)
Each week the behavior bucks are reset and each student will start again with 5 behavior bucks.
Discipline Referrals: A discipline referral may be given due to repeated behaviors in and outside of the classroom (lunch, recess, specials, etc.). This is a school wide plan. The student will fill out a paper that will be signed by the teacher and sent home. The parents need to sign the paper and return it the following day. Depending on the situation, students miss 1-3 lunch recesses. They serve their discipline referral in the lunch room at a separate table and are assigned work by the teacher.
Tickets / Respectful Rewards: Students will periodically receive a ticket if Mrs. Hill or any other faculty member observes excellent behavior. When students receive ticket, they will write their name on the back of the ticket and drop it into my “ticket box.” On Friday afternoons, I will draw a few names from the box and those students will receive a small prize or a coupon (respectful rewards). Coupons awarded include eating lunch in the room, having 15 minutes of free computer time, show and tell, etc. This is a fun incentive to praise good behavior in the classroom.
