English Language Arts (ELA)
This week we will be looking at text features and determining how they contribute (teach us more) and clarify (help us see something better) the text we are reading.
This week's pattern is words with the soft c sound. Please feel free to look over your child's spelling homework before they return it on Thursday.
Towards the end of the week, we will begin our science unit on plants! Students will plant two different kinds of seeds in one cup (grass seed and alfalfa seed). We will make observations on our planting as it grows and changes. Students will also be exploring different plant books and coming up with questions they are curious about.
Students will be measuring arm spans and how far they jump. We will collect this data and use a frequency table and a line plot to look at our results as a class.
Writing / Language
In groups, students will be writing a plays based on the Cinderella story from the culture they studied. We plan to perform these plays for our special visitors on April 21st.
Students will also be exploring adjectives and adding them to the fiction stories we have already written.
